See how our bequestors transform the lives of Australians every day

Meet four inspiring Mission Australia bequestors.

John BushnellJohn Bushell

Fifteen years ago, John’s life was destroyed through excessive gambling and alcohol abuse and which resulted in him living on the streets. Fortunately, Mission Australia found John and worked with him to transform his life.To help ensure Mission Australia is there to help Australians just like John in the future, he chose to leave a gift to Mission Australia in his Will.

“I never thought I’d need Mission Australia, let alone end up leaving them a bequest in my Will.”
John

Wendy wheatleyWendy Wheatley

Wendy has proudly supported Mission Australia since the 1970’s.  At the time, she worked in a hospital and saw the impact of homelessness, with homeless people visiting the hospital for various illnesses and injuries. Determined to do something about it, Wendy chose to leave a gift to Mission Australia in her Will.

“I realised we didn’t have a Will, so we made one.  And I made sure we included Mission Australia right from the start.”
Wendy

Dorothy McLeanDorothy McLean

Dorothy has been a Mission Australia supporter for over 45 years witnessing the poverty in the Woolloomooloo area back in the 1960’s. Dorothy decided to do something to help disadvantaged people and has continued to donate ever since. Dorothy saw leaving a gift in her Will as just a natural extension of the support she had been providing throughout her lifetime.

“When I am no longer around, I want to be able to continue to help those in need.”
Dorothy

Bruce Thomson

Bruce was first introduced to Mission Australia when he met a young man who like him, was suffering from juvenile diabetes. The young man was living in one of Mission Australia’s hostels. Bruce saw how Mission Australia supported this young man and was inspired to leave a gift in his Will to Mission Australia.

“I’m proud of leaving a bequest to Mission Australia. I believe in the work that they are doing and it helps me to know that when I’m gone, some of my money will be used to continue this work.”
Bruce
