Wording your bequest to Mission Australia

Including a bequest to Mission Australia is easy. 

When you make a Will or update your existing one, simply ask your solicitor to include a bequest to Mission Australia.

Below are the three most effective options for including a bequest in your Will. All three options offer you the advantage of ensuring that the real dollar value of your bequest is not eroded by inflation over time.

1. The residue of your estate
After you have taken care of your family, friends and any debts, you can leave any remaining money to Mission Australia. This is called a residuary bequest because it means the residue (or remainder) of your estate.
Correct wording for a residuary bequest:
I give and bequeath the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal to Mission Australia – (ACN 000 002 522) Lv 7, 580 George Street, Sydney NSW for its general purposes and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time, shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.

2. A percentage of the residue of your estate
An alternative to a residual bequest is to give a percentage of the residue of your estate.

I give and bequeath __________ per cent of the residue of my estate to Mission Australia – (ACN 000 002 522) Lv 7, 580 George Street, Sydney NSW for its general purposes and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time, shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.

3. A percentage of your total estate
You may choose to give any percentage of your entire estate, up to 100 per cent.

4. A specific amount
You may choose to leave a specific amount of money from your estate to Mission Australia.
