One night in a safe, supported environment can be the key to helping a homeless or vulnerable young person begin to access pathways out of the cycle of homelessness

Tonight more than 22, 000 young Australians  have nowhere to call home.

One night in a safe, supported environment can be the key to helping a homeless or vulnerable young person begin to access pathways out of the cycle of homelessness.

If you have a heart for young people and a spare room, or you would enjoy transporting young people to their accommodation, you could become a part of a national move towards transforming the lives of young people in our communities.

NIGHTSPOT is:

... an emergency accommodation service that allows vulnerable youth to stay in the homes of trained community volunteers for one night at a time, in order to ‘take stock’ in a safe environment. Young people are transported to and from 'host family' homes by volunteer drivers.

... primarily an early intervention service, the programme is aimed at preventing young homeless people from becoming entrenched in a pattern of chronic homelessness. The programme is aimed at ‘low-risk’ young people (16 – 21 years) who are generally in an immediate crisis situation (for example, an argument with family that requires some ‘time-out’ on both sides, and where there are no other options open to that young person).

... supporting communities to provide care for youth-in-crisis in their local area, and providing opportunities for those young people to reconnect with their families, schools, workplaces and communities.

... focussed on safety. Young people, host families and drivers are carefully screened. Young people are matched with host’s to facilitate a positive experience for all.
