Around one young Australian commits suicide every day

“Mission Australia really does make a difference in people’s lives. They save lives. It changes not only our lives but our families’ and our closest friends. They saved my life.” Krystal, 24, Mission Australia client

Mission Australia operates youth services in every state and territory of Australia to help young people in crisis through early intervention services before their problems escalate. We work with some of the most vulnerable young people in Australia, many of whom have been disconnected from family, friends and community and are in the high-risk category for youth suicide. Our youth services include Triple Care Farm, which aims to break the cycle of negative behaviour through an intensive three-month program; Links to Learning, which supports youth to re-engage with education; Reconnect, an intervention program for young people who are thinking about or have recently left home; and ON-Track, a Perth service that provides specialised care to young people suffering from the effects of drug and alcohol misuse.

Whether it’s by encouraging creativity, providing mentoring opportunities or offering counselling, our work enables young people to make positive choices in their lives and to reconnect with family and the community.

Last year alone, our supporters helped us change the future of 12,500 struggling young Australians and we’re committed to reaching many more this year.

Mission Australia’s annual ‘Youth Appeal’ is approaching and we require six volunteers to work in the call centre as Donation Information Officers. The calls will be non-sales calls to existing donors.
